Evil Spirit Behind Nigeria’s Darkness, Power Minister Tells S/A Investors

The Minister of State for Power, Hajiya Zainab Kuchi, yesterday told South African investors that evil spirit were behind Nigeria’s darkness preventing the country from taking her pride of place in the comity of Nations.
While addressing members of the African National Congress (ANC), the South African Ruling Party, which led a team of investors to her office in Abuja, the minister said, “We must resolve to jointly exorcise the evil spirit behind this darkness and allow this nation take its pride of peace in the comity of Nations.”
The minister in a statement by the Deputy Director/Head of Press of the ministry, Greyne Anosike, said, “Nigeria needs help, any nation that loves Nigeria must collaborate with it now to resolve her energy crisis…We are getting irritatingly slow.”
She told the delegation that Nigeria has a structured response to her power challenges with a Roadmap it is implementing with care and diligence and asked them to study the power sector roadmap and come up with their specific area of interest, assuring that there were a lot of gaps to be filed in the sector.
The Minister said that work had reached various stages of completion in rehabilitating some of the moribund power stations littering the landscape pointing out that, the revival of the abandoned power projects was critical in lifting the sector as billions of funds had been sunk into them.
“It would amount to lavish diseconomy to embark on new project and abandon the old ones in which huge tax payers resources had been sunk,” she said, and added that she was confident that the present Administration is determined to make a difference in this sector and break the jinx.

Saudi Arabian king ‘clinically dead

KING of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, has been in a state of “clinical death” for the past two days, reported Albawaba News quoting Arabic newspaper, Asharq Alawsat, on Monday.
A report by the paper claimed that medical staff in Saudi Arabia had confirmed that the king’s basic organs were no longer working.
According to the source, “the fate of the king will be determined within three to four days.”
The news contradicted reports from the Saudi Royal Court, which publicly announced that the 11-hour operation had been a success.
According to state news agency, SPA, the 89-year-old monarch was in hospital for surgery to tighten a ligament in his back.
Meanwhile, Saudi crown prince, Salman has reassured the people during a cabinet meeting on Monday about King Abdullah’s health, more than a week after the surgery, state news agency SPA reported.
The king was admitted for surgery on November 16 and an announcement from the Royal Court said he had undergone a successful back operation that took 11 hours.
Abdullah, who took over power in 2005, named his brother, Prince Salman, heir apparent in June, after the death of Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz

EFFECTS OF POLLUTION

Pollution produces physical and biological effects that  vary  from  mildly  irritating  to  lethal.  The  more serious of the two are the biological effects. Physical Effects The physical effects of pollution are those that we can  see,  but  they  include  effects  other  than  actual physical damage. Oil spills. One obvious physical effect of pollution is the result of oil spills that are caused by ship collisions or  other  accidents.  Oil  spilled  into  the  seas  coats everything it touches. It fouls boat hulls, pier pilings, and  shore  structures;  spoils  the  beauty  of  nature  by killing fish and birds; and makes beaches unusable. In addition to the physical effects, oil spills require costly cleanup operations. Air pollutants. Air pollutants damage a wide variety of  materials.  Burning  oil  and  coal  produce  sulfur oxides, which cause steel to erode two to four times faster  than  normal.  When  combined  with  other pollutants  (soot,  smoke,  lead,  asbestos,  and  so  on), sulfur oxide particulates cause corrosion to occur at an even  faster  rate.  By  themselves,  particulates  damage and  soil  materials,  structures,  and  equipment.  Air pollutants speed the erosion of statues and buildings, which in some instances, destroys works of art. Biological Effects The most serious result of pollution is its harmful biological  effects  on  human  health  and  on  the  food chain of animals, birds, and marine life. Pollution can destroy vegetation that provides food and shelter. It can seriously disrupt the balance of nature, and, in extreme cases, can cause the death of humans. Pesticides,  which  include  herbicides  and insecticides,  can  damage  crops;  kill  vegetation;  and poison  birds,  animals,  and  fish.  Most  pesticides  are nonselective; they kill or damage life forms other thanthose intended. For example, pesticides used in an effort to control or destroy undesirable vegetation and insects often destroy birds and small animals. Some life forms develop immunity to pesticides used to destroy them. When that happens, we develop more potent chemicals and the cycle repeats itself. The  widespread  use  of  pollutants,  such  as  oil, chemicals, and fertilizers, pollutes our waterways. The biological effect of water pollution is its danger to our water  supplies;  we  require  water  to  survive.  Water pollutants are also dangerous to all forms of marine life. Oil  is  an  especially  harmful  pollutant.  It  kills surface-swimming animals and sea birds and, once it settles on the bottom, harms shellfish and other types of marine life. The primary pollution concern of Navy personnel involves  pollution  produced  by  shipboard  wastes.  In addition  to  oil,  shipboard  wastes  include  sanitary wastes,  galley  and  laundry  waters,  chemicals,  solid wastes,  and  combustion  by-products  of  oil-  and gasoline-driven engines. Pollutants produced by ships are  similar  to  those  generated  by  municipal  and industrial operations. NAVY PROGRAMS FOR POLLUTION CONTROL Based  on  an  Executive  Order,  all  government agencies must provide leadership in the protection and enhancement  of  the  quality  of  our  air  and  water resources.  They  also  must  comply  with  all environmental laws and regulations. Accordingly, the Secretary of the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations, and  other  authorities  have  issued  several  pollution control  instructions.  Those  instructions  cover  the abatement (lowering) of air, water, and noise pollution. In addition, we have a program to preserve our natural, cultural, and historic resources. Clean Air Act Under the Clean Air Act, each state has the primary responsibility  for  assuring  air  quality.  All  naval activities must meet both federal and state standards for preventing air pollution. The Navy has begun taking steps to help meet the nation’s  goal  of  reducing  air  pollution.  One  step  hasspill it during refueling operations or as a result of collision or grounding. Several million gallons of oil may ruin and pollute miles of coastline as a result of such accidents.

Akpos knocked on the gate of a brothel in a red light district. The madam opened the brothel door to see a young man called Akpos. His clothes were all tattered and he looked needy.‬‬
‪‪”Can I help you?” the madam asked.‬‬
‪‪”I want Comfort,” Akpos replied.‬‬
‪‪”Young Man, Comfort is one of our most expensive ladies, perhaps someone else…”‬‬
‪‪”No, I must see Comfort.” Akpos replied. Just then Comfort appeared and announced to Akpos that she charges N50,000 per visit.‬‬
‪‪Akpos never blinked and reached into his pocket and handed her fifty pieces of N1,000 notes. The two went up to a room for an hour whereupon Akpos calmly left.‬‬
‪‪The next night he appeared again demanding Comfort.‬‬
‪‪Comfort explained that no one had ever come back two nights in a row and that there were no discounts. it was still N50,000. Again Akpos took out the money, the two went up to the room and he calmly left an hour later.‬‬
‪‪When Akpos showed up the third consecutive night, no one could believe it. Again he handed Comfort the money and up to the room they went. At the end of the hour Comfort questioned Akpos: “No one has ever used my services three nights in a row… where are you from?”‬‬
‪‪Akpos replied, “I am from Warri.” “Really?” replied Comfort, “I have a brother who lives there and does business.”‬‬
‪‪”Yes; I know,” Akpos replied. “He gave me N150,000 to give to you.”

Akpors loses everything due to his drinking habit.
One evening he saw empty bottles on the bar table, he smashes 3 bottles swearing, “My wife left me because of you!”
“You are the reason I don’t have kids!”
“You are the reason I don’t have a job!”
He was about to smash the fourth bottle but realized it was sealed and full of beer… So he said”Stand aside, I know you were not involved…”=D =D

10 Tips for a Healthier Weekend

We all know how it goes. You make good food choices, avoid temptations, and work out every morning only to find that on Friday or Saturday night, your willpower goes out the window. Somehow you begin noshing on chicken fingers and guzzling beer then snoozing through your Spinning class the next morning. Sound familiar?

The weekend sure can pose a challenge to our health and weight-loss goals. Why? Well, during the week, we tend to plan ahead and follow a schedule. We get up, eat breakfast, head to work, eat planned snacks during our breaks, enjoy lunch at the same scheduled time each day, and find ways to squeeze in a little exercise. Many of us even pack a whole day's worth of food and do pretty well at making healthy decisions day to day.

During the weekend, it might seem that all bets are off. Without a set schedule (and more opportunities for temptation) one weekend can easily undo a whole week of healthy habits.

But weekends don't have to be this way. In fact, weekends are a great time to practice healthy behaviors because you usually have more time to do so.

So, how do you change your unhealthy weekend habits? A good start would be to begin incorporating these healthy weekend tips so you can stay healthy—and on track!

    1. Squeeze in a longer workout. The best part of the weekend is that you have more free time. So while you might not be able to squeeze in a 30-minute run over lunch during the week, you can use the weekend to go for a longer run at a beautiful park nearby. Or go to the gym to try a new hour-long class. Use the weekend as a time to refresh your workout and get more activity in without feeling rushed.

    2. Eat like it's a weekday. When you think about it, it doesn't really make much sense to eat differently on the weekend than you do during the week—especially if your food choices during the week keep you fueled and energized. It can be easy to skip meals on the weekend and then make up for it later by overindulging at dinner. So, make a point to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner while sitting down. for when you're on the go, and follow a schedule just like you would during the week. Your body will thank you!

    3. Stick to your usual sleep schedule. Are you someone who has a firm bedtime during the week only to stay up late and sleep in on the weekends? Changing your sleep patterns could throw off your schedule (hard to eat breakfast when you get up at noon!), and could also . Just think of all those times you stayed up later than usual, got hungry and ended up eating something unhealthy! Changing your sleep schedule can also make it harder to fall asleep on Sunday night which could set you up for a tired Monday.

    4. Get outdoors. Because most of us work indoors during the daylight hours, the weekend provides a nice opportunity to get outside, see the sun and connect with nature. Heading outside can boost your body's production of , plus studies show that people are happier when they spend time out in nature. So, get out there and enjoy the great outdoors!

    5. Fuel yourself for weekday success. Ask yourself honestly if you with workouts or restricted your food or calories too much during the week. If so, come Friday, your body may be hungry and tired, which can lead to overeating and underexercising on the weekend. Remember to every day, eating and exercising in a way that you can sustain for the long haul—not just a few days or weeks.

    6. Limit your drinks. While many of us forgo the soda, beer and wine during the week, we loosen up over the weekend and . Just remember that the calories in beverages can add up quickly if you're not careful. Go easy on the drinks, or try if you just can't forgo that fancy coffee or sweet tea on Saturday! Practice moderation when it comes to alcohol, too. Just because you were "good" during the week doesn't mean that it's OK to make up for that with one night of all-out binge drinking. Here's what you need to know about .

    7. Plan for relaxation. Most of us are busy during the week and even our weekends seem to become non-stop errands, chores, work and travel. So how do you find time to relax? Take the whole weekend (or at least part of it) to schedule some downtime for at least an hour or two. Whether it's practicing your favorite hobby, seeing a movie with friends or even meditating quietly, do something every weekend that recharges you. You'll not only feel better, but also beat stress (which may also ).

    8. Break the on-again, off-again diet mentality. If you have a history in yo-yo dieting, make sure that you're not alternating between being "good" and "bad" throughout the course of a week. View the weekend as time for you—not a time to rebel or "cheat" on your diet and exercise plan. Remember that being at a healthy weight is about sustainable healthy lifestyle changes, not just a diet and exercise plan that you can maintain Monday through Friday. Revisit your goals and recommit to making healthy and realistic choices every day that set you up for success in the long term.

    9. Weigh in Monday morning. If you need extra help being accountable over the weekend, schedule your weekly weigh-in for Monday morning. Knowing that you'll step on the scale at the start of the week can help you to stay accountable and be more aware of your weekend choices.

    10. Plan for the week ahead. What better way to stay healthy on the weekend than by using your extra time to continue to set yourself up for success? Take a Sunday afternoon or evening to , hit the grocery store, and do some for the week ahead. That way, when your busy week gets even busier, you'll already be ahead of the curve and able to stay on track! Don't forget about laundering your workout clothes, packing your gym bag, and getting prepared for workouts, too.
Follow these ideas to get on a healthy track this weekend, and revisit this list to stay healthy for many more weekends to come!
